Saratoga track announcer Frank Mirahmadi’s brain is always on fire.
Mention a horse or race, and then try — just try — to keep up as he rattles off why he said what he said, why he didn’t say five other things, and who he’s thinking of as his brain ping pongs and pivots at lightning speed.
He’s doing all of this, of course, while his announcer voice comes out so cool and calm that I often use the word “deadpan” when describing his calls.
While in the announcer’s booth yesterday afternoon as part of Backstretch Employee Service Team’s “3rd Race Call” — what I consider the track’s No. 1 can’t-miss activity — Saratoga’s race caller of three years dished on Alabama weekend.
