Lake George’s Pilot Knob preserved
In a win for environmentalists, the Lake George Land Conservancy has purchased hundreds of acres on Pilot Knob mountain on Lake George’s eastern shore, a story in the Post-Star reported over the weekend. Column as I see ‘em: Kvetching edition
Saratoga Report Editor Dan DeFederice’s latest column has in his own words a few gripes: Speedway smells, funny “no parking or else” signs, and more make the funny gripes of this semi-cantankerous column.
Trail ‘head’ is welcomed amenity
Near the trailhead of the Betar Byway Back Trail in South Glens Falls is a “head” of a different sort: A restroom for hikers who do not want to go au naturale. The village won a $10,000 grant from the Saratoga County Economic Development Trails and Open Space Committee, so they did some research and set up a prefab water closet, a story in the Post-Star says.

Positively Saratoga: Good news from the week that was.
Old World Gourmet Market temporarily closes, again
We at the Dispatch reported last week that the Old World Gourmet market struggled to open on Broadway — they could not find enough quality workers — and now their main store in Wilton has closed temporarily for the same reason. The story that was hot on social media over the weekend. The Daily Gazette picked it up. Oddly, the co-owner with her husband Maria Biagini did not mention the impending closure of the main store when we called her late last week, and in fact asked the Dispatch to come by this week and see what was happening, when we interviewed her. The Table Hopping column in the Times Union also carried the story and tracked down some disgruntled employees.
Below the fold: Commissioner Moran’s court appeal. Enjoying the last days of summer. Weather, traffic, stocks and more.
