Lola Day Clifton’s Park’s standout

Figure skater Lola Day of Clifton Park won a gold medal in her skating division at the Excel National Festival in Colorado Springs. A member of the Skating Club of Boston, she practices at rinks in the area for 1.5 hours, six days a week and completes off-ice training as well.

Siena to un-retire a jersey

How good do you have to be for a sports team to un-retire a jersey? Really good. Rising sophomore Gavin Doty will wear #4 in the 2025-2026 season, a number worn by all-time high scorer, 1991 Siena graduate Marc Brown, says a story in the Daily Gazette. Brown, who played pro ball for the Albany Patroons and elsewhere, told the school and the paper that it was OK, that Doty was a impressive player. The jersey was retired in 2010.

The winning submission will be turned into a plaque and posted on a new armrest after the theatre completes its $19.5 million renovation in 2026, a story in the Times Union says. (Katherine Kiessling, the story’s writer, has a lot of clever puns herself. You should read it.)
