Letter to the Editor

George Ehinger for County Supervisor

To the Editors:

In November, I am voting for George Ehinger for Saratoga County Supervisor. I have known George for years; as a friend, a neighbor, a business executive and a family man. For me, George is an easy choice, the real deal, the kind of principled leader we are so needful of in our public spaces. Of course, George has the threshold skills. He is bright and analytical and assertive in his views. As importantly, I think, he is open and collaborative and sensible rather than doctrinaire. The man I know is someone who can be trusted to address the issues that come before him with good judgement and fair balance.

I hope you will join me in voting for George on Election Day.

Chuck Okosky, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

From the editors: Looking to support a candidate? Want to sound off on the news of the day? We got you. Send your SHORT letter (150 words MAX, practice your pithiness) to editors@saratogadispatch.com.

Please include: Your full name and a phone number to reach you in case we need to. Include which town/city/village you live in. Links to info/data/stories if needed to prove the arguments you’re making.

Do not include: Jerkiness. We are not social media, and we will not post vile attacks. We reserve the right to choose just what “vile” is. Letters on local (Saratoga Springs) topics will be chosen over regional/national ones. Please use names when referring to humans. We do not care what your pet name is for your least-favorite politician, please use their real name and/or real title (Gov. Hochul, President Donald Trump, the governor, the president, etc). Also, we will likely object to a letter that runs long, so please, cut and revise it before sending.

Girls rush in: how the new varsity sport of girls flag football is having a ripple effect on female players of all ages (and their parents), who are finally making gains in the sport they love.

“The turnout for girls flag football this year was incredible,” says Rebecca Beers, whose daughter (LEFT, CENTER), 9, plays in Ballston Spa. Quarterback Alice Dalton (RIGHT), 12, has played with Saratoga NFL since she was 6.

Alice Dalton started playing NFL Saratoga flag football when she was just 6. She quickly fell for the sport — at 12, she’s now a star quarterback for the Bengals — even knowing that her ability to play would come to a crashing halt during her freshman year.

There were simply no options at the time for female flag football players to participate after ninth grade.
