The best (early spring) getaway in the ADK awaits at High Peaks Resort
It’s March, which means spring is almost here (hallelujah). How best to celebrate this year, after surviving a long and brutal winter featuring record-busting snowfall and a bomb-cyclone blizzard?
When you’re ready to jump-start the season with a night or two away, head north to Lake Placid in the 6-million-acre Adirondack Park, where High Peaks Resort embodies the charm of an idyllic Adirondack escape.
But honestly, why leave the resort?
If you want to stay in and enjoy the Resort’s bounty, there’s plenty to do.
The High Peaks Resort’s social spaces are the perfect setting for family fun and friend get-togethers. The Adirondacks Great Camp-inspired chic sofas and cozy sitting nooks offer the warm lighting and buzzy social vibe that make everyone want to gather for board games, puzzles and stories by the fire.
(And if you really lock into that game of Monopoly, simply order takeout from the on-site Dancing Bears Restaurant).

Ready to venture out?
High Peak Resort is as ready for spring as you are, with a range of seasonal activations on and off property.
One of the most thrilling ways to take in the crisp mountain air and spot trees budding is on a bike. Visitors can rent Fat Tire Bikes via High Peaks Cyclery, which will give both beginners and seasoned bikers everything they need to gear up and hit the scenic forest trails. Glide through forests still decked out in a little snow, with spring sunshine warming the way.
Maple Weekends offer one of the sweetest ways to tap into spring in the ADK. Every March, local sugarhouses open their doors to the public, offering insight into how this delightful agricultural product is made. From helping pros tap trees, to watching them boil sap and — of course — enjoying fresh samples of maple syrup over pancakes or ice cream, it’s a distinct cultural and regional experience that everyone should indulge in at least once.
