“Adjustments” to GlobalFoundries workforce
GlobalFoundries in Malta has “adjustments” to its workforce in Saratoga County, a story in the Times Union says. The company which employs 2,300 in Saratoga County release a statement about efficiency and positioning themselves better in the gloal market. The state’s WARN Act page, which tracks layoffs of larger firms in the state, does not show any new announcement from GlobalFoundries regarding impending or recent layoffs. The company is undergoing a $16 billion expansion.
Tiny home development OKed
The former Leonard Hospital site in Troy will see 86 rental cottages marketed to the 55-plus community, the Albany Business Review is reporting. They were conditionally approved by the city planning board last week. The project which will likely begin this fall and finish next year will cost about $15 million, the story says.
High school is nationally ranked
U.S. News and World Report has ranked Saratoga Springs High School nationally. They place the school at #2682 nationally and in the top 10 for the Capital Region. According to U.S. News, schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college, which considers how many students took and passed Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams.

Schenectady council member resigns
Schenectady Councilman Joseph Mancini has vacated his seat and is moving to Florida at least partially for his health, despite two years remaining on his term, the Daily Gazette is reporting. The City Council will name a replacement for now, but the winner of the November election for his seat will take over.
