Skidmore alum on the big screen
BUT FIRST: Mouzon House's end of an era, new face of Saratoga Water, and all-ages Snow Day fun forecasted for Jan. 17
Forecast: Snow Day
Jan. 17 calls for all-ages fun, no matter the weather.
The local business community is calling for fun-loving folks of all ages to descend upon Downtown Jan. 17 for a first-ever Snow Day — no matter the weather.
The first-ever Saratoga Snow Day — presented by the Saratoga County Chamber in partnership with Discover Saratoga and the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association — is forecasted to be a celebration of winter, inviting residents and visitors to bundle up and enjoy a full day of snowy adventures, cozy experiences, and vibrant downtown energy.
“We’re thrilled to light up the winter season with an event that brings our vibrant Saratoga community together,” says Todd Shimkus, president of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. “Saratoga Snow Day highlights the warmth of local businesses and invites everyone to explore, shop, dine and make winter memories in our walkable city.”

The event will transform Downtown into a winter wonderland of fun activities including a Snowman Scavenger Hunt among the downtown shops and sites, a Fire & Ice Trail with specialty winter-themed bites and beverages, and a free family movie screening starting at 11 a.m. at the Saratoga Springs City Center. The movie will be announced soon, but attendees are encouraged to wear cozy attire for a flannel photo contest.
Deann Devitt, president of the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association, welcomes one and all to explore what the district has to offer during Saratoga Snow Day. “We’re excited to celebrate winter with an event that connects our Saratoga community,” she says. “From shopping and dining to strolling our charming streets, this new event encourages everyone to get out of winter hibernation and embrace the season by supporting our local businesses.”

For young event-goers, The Children’s Museum at Saratoga will offer winter educational programs for visitors to learn about the snowy season.
Additional downtown restaurant participants include Cantina, Druthers Brewing Company, Hattie’s Restaurant, Henry Street Taproom, Kindred, Lucy’s Bar, Rhea, Scallions, The Bourbon Room, The Mercantile and The Thirsty Owl; all venues will take part in the Fire & Ice Trail experience with treats such as seasonal cocktails and warm, hearty fare.

IN BRIEF
End of an era: Mouzon House listed for $1.75M
The stunning and historic Mouzon House has been listed with Julie & Co. for $1.75 million. "Our girls are getting to the point now where they want to go off and do some different things," David Pedinotti told the Albany Business Review. "They're both culinary and work with us. We're getting on into our 70s now and decided it's time." The family — endeared to Saratogians going back to their One Caroline Street days — have been running the restaurant as a supper club.

WNBA star newest face of Saratoga Water
Seattle Storm guard Skylar Diggins — a seven-time All-Star — is the new face of Saratoga Water. “She knows taste isn’t just what you choose — it’s how you live,” the brand wrote in its Instagram announcement. Diggins will next hit the Golden Globes red carpet this Sunday, says Saratoga Today’s Jonathon Norcross, as the blue bottle will again return as the official water of the super-glam awards show.

Weekend Reminder: 2 great events
Saratoga Arts
Saratoga Arts reopens its newly-renovated downtown locale this weekend with fanfare starting around the time you read this. (If you haven’t been yet, Saratoga Arts — on the corner of Broadway and Spring — is a crucial part of the “creative fabric” that our town is so famous for.)
To celebrate, there was a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony this morning and will be a 6 p.m. cocktail party this evening, featuring performances by the Curley Lamb Nu-Soul-Jaz Trio with Sam Zucchini. By tomorrow, Saratoga Arts will be in full swing, with drop-in workshops and tours.

Christmas Tree Disco Inferno
Yep, it’s as cool as it sounds
No more dragging your Christmas tree to the side of the road.
Dancing Grain Farm Brewery says to let that tree burn, baby, burn — at a farm-to-glass brewery during a Disco Inferno party tomorrow, Jan. 10.
“We are accepting unlimited Christmas tree drop-offs until 2 p.m. Saturday,” says Dancing Grain’s Rachel McDermott. At 3, the party begins.
Drop your tree at 180 Old West Rd in Gansevoort; $10 fee goes to the South Glens Falls Fire Dept.

Saratoga County home prices (still) on the rise

Not only have median home sales prices in Saratoga County continued their rise since 2022 — but the year-over-year increases have been growing larger, according to new numbers provided by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. From 2022 to 2023, and from 2023 to 2024, prices increased by $20,000 (5.1%) and $30,000 (7.3%) respectively. Most recently? Up $25,000 (5.7%) from 2024 to 2025 — for a total increase of $75,000 since ‘22.
That’s some serious demand for housing.
“I tell my buying clients that if they want to buy, they should do it now, and at the same time, I tell my selling clients that if they want to sell, they should do it now,” says Allison Bradley of Four Seasons Sotheby’s Realty. “The prices are steadily rising, but housing inventory is also rising in Saratoga County so properties are slower to sell.” Indeed. New listings in the county have increased 3.9% (and closed sales 3.2%) from 2024 to 2025, reports the chamber. “The housing market seems to be correcting,” Bradley says. “We shall see!”
Skidmore alum stars in new movie packed with A-list talent
Zazie Beetz — of Deadpool and Atlanta fame — has a new thriller coming out this spring, and the trailer just dropped. Let’s just say it’s not for the faint of heart. The horror flick co-stars Oscar winner Patricia Arquette, Heather Graham and Tom Felton. “I Will Love You if you see this movie,” she captioned her Instagram post announcing the horror flick, titled “They Will Kill You.” Do you dare?
