Fire risk is elevated

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says the fire risk in Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties today is “moderate.” According to the website, that means fires can start from accidental causes but the number of starts is generally low and they are not likely to become serious.

Stoney’s Irish Grill

Stoney’s Irish Grill, a Schenectady mainstay, gets positive reviews from the Daily Gazette this morning. New hours bring a special menu with “smaller-sized portions, perfect for grazing,” the story says.


Easements sought to connect Troy and Rensselaer along river

The only riverbank access between Troy and Rensselaer is through woods that are privately owned. According to a story in the Times Union, easements for a connector trail in Rensselaer County are coming with a new President at RPI, which owns much of the property. Rensselaer county is committed to seeing it through, the story says.

ICE flights under protest in Albany

Avelo airline signed an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security last spring to make charter deportation flights from Arizona. It's unclear if the practice happens at other airports. Protesters on Saturday pushed Albany Airport to drop Avelo. The Times Union has a photo story here.

County fair comes to close after record-breaking day

People took to the midway at the to the Saratoga County Fair’s final day on Sunday, a story in the Saratogian says. The final day followed a very warm week and a record-breaking Saturday attendance.
