Track announcer Frank Mirahmadi dishes on Alabama weekend
Which horse deserved a better call, the word plays he kept to himself — and why.

Saratoga track announcer Frank Mirahmadi’s brain is always on fire.
Mention a horse or race, and then try — just try — to keep up as he rattles off why he said what he said, why he didn’t say five other things, and who he’s thinking of as his brain ping pongs and pivots at lightning speed.
He’s doing all of this, of course, while his announcer voice comes out so cool and calm that I often use the word “deadpan” when describing his calls.
