Jessica Kirson brings award-winning, ‘high-energy’ comedy to UPH
Award-winning comedian Jessica Kirson is bringing her name-brand talent to UPH for a laugh-out-loud Sunday evening. “Go on YouTube; she’s hilarious,” says UPH’s director, Teddy Foster. Kirson’s so funny that she boasts more than a billion views on her social media channels, due in part, too, to appearances on The Tonight Show, The View, HBO’s Crashing, and Kevin Can Wait. Robert DeNiro even chose her to be his consultant, producer and onscreen talent in his movie The Comedian.
Kirson recently made headlines for appearing with heavyweights such as Bill Burr, Dave Chapelle, Kevin Hart and Pete Davidson at the controversial Riyadh Comedy Festival, before donating her entire appearance fee to a human rights organization, the only one so far to confirm doing so. Kirson is known for her regular appearances at the top stand-up venues in the country, including Gotham Comedy Club, Laugh Factory, Caroline’s and the Improv.

One for me, one for somebody who really needs it
Pitney Meadows is packing up produce for the harvest season. The Harvest Box Program offers fresh produce carefully harvested at the farm and put together to be both purchased and donated. It’s a one-for-one program where the farm matches every harvest box they sell with one they donate to community members in need.
What’s in the harvest boxes?
Containers of family-sized portions of vegetables including carrots, squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, turnips and radicchio.
How it works:
1. Purchase your box from now until Nov. 15. There is a limited supply, so act fast. The cost is $100 per box.
2. Pick up your box on Nov. 15 between 2 and 4 p.m. at the High Tunnel at Pitney Meadows on West Ave.
3. Nov. 15 is also the same day as packing day. Box packing and prep occurs the morning of pick-up day, starting at noon. You can volunteer to help package harvest boxes at the farm before the pick-up rush occurs.

Shaker High alum delivers final outs (again), this time in a Game 7 thriller.
If you didn’t stay up past 11 last night watching the Game 7 thriller between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners…maybe you heard today that the most famous Capital Regionite in the MLB playoffs struck again? If you haven’t heard, here’s what all the buzz about: Shaker High grad/Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman — who last delivered the final pitch to knock the Yankees out of the playoffs — pitched a perfect ninth inning last night to close out a tight 4-3 triumph. Next up: Hoffman and the Blue Jays square off against reigning champs Los Angeles Dodgers, marking the Toronto team’s first World Series appearance since 1993.
