Wind got you down? Stay in and watch this Upstate ‘Haunting’ instead — if you dare.
‘Terrifying’ new Netflix series called ‘True Haunting’ gives Upstate the horror treatment. Do you dare watch?

Halloween parties and plans are being cancelled left and right thanks to this frigid, 35 mph wind. But do you dare stay in and watch the new Netflix series that everybody’s talking about?
It’s been deemed too chilling to watch at night — and more than half the series takes place right here in Upstate New York.
The five-episode True Haunting, which dropped October 7, is divided into two stories, with the first three episodes taking place at SUNY Geneseo. The series bills itself as half docuseries/half scripted, but these are no true-crime-on-cable reenactments. Director James Wan (Saw, Conjuring) gives these true paranormal stories the full horror movie treatment.
“The Upstate one was wild,” says the Saratogian who tipped me off. (I’m too chicken to watch myself.) “Let’s just say that something called a torture tree comes up. If you don’t already believe in the spirit realm, this will be what changes you.”
She said her kids weren’t too frightened — but she was later when the story sunk in. “It’s scary to think about how it would feel if it were happening to you.”
Final thoughts on binging the series this Halloween night? “Absolutely! I always love a good true haunting, especially one in our own backyard.”
Girls rush in

One of the only female coaches in NFL Saratoga flag football has taken her team all the way to the final four. Tomorrow, Amy Tatangelo and her team of 5th- and 6th-grade Chargers (including her son, Rocco) will join the Jaguars, Panthers and Ravens in the final play-offs to see who plays in Sunday’s Super Bowl. “The woman’s touch on the field has been great,” says Seana Mosher, mom to Gavin, 10. “She works with them on mindsets and setting their intentions.” Thursday’s practice being cancelled didn’t let the young athletes off the hook, either. “When the boys go to sleep tonight and tomorrow,” she wrote the parents, “please tell them to close their eyes and picture the win, feel the celebration at the end zone and how it feels to win big.”

IN BRIEF
‘Plane crash!!!’
Those words — in this case via the Nextdoor app — are always terrifying. Indeed, a small plane containing two people did crash in Milton this morning, killing the pilot and sending the passenger to Albany Med, reports Spectrum. The plane had just taken off from Saratoga County Airport when it hit a tree and crashed into a suburban driveway. Someone was home at the time — no doubt startled out of their mind —but wasn’t injured. To the pilot’s family, we’re so sorry for your loss.
Ted’s takes on Milton
The new Ted’s Fish Fry in Milton opens tomorrow, reports the Albany Business Review. In the former home of a Pizza Hut at 2103 Doubleday Ave., the location will be the family-owned crowd-pleaser’s seventh location and second in Saratoga County (after Halfmoon).
