'Housing' is more than a headline in Saratoga
BUT FIRST: đ Belly laughs at an Irish wake.
đ Belly laughs at an Irish wake
Feast on Irish soda bread and Shepherdâs pie during UPHâs pre-St. Patrickâs Day musical comedy âFinneganâs Wakeâ
Being out and about these last few days has felt great, no?
When the temps nosedive again, do NOT retreat back into your cocoon â get ahead of it now, by booking a ticket that will get you out of the house, and make you laugh.
As you read this, local actors are rehearsing and gearing up for their three-day run of Finneganâs Farewell, a musical comedy (by the co-creator of Tony & Tinaâs Wedding!) thatâs taking the stage at UPH Thursday and Friday nights and Saturday matinee.
âItâs so much fun,â laughs UPH director Teddy Foster. âYouâve gotta come â itâs such a great time.â
The premise: Youâre a guest at an authentic Irish wake and have come to pay your last respects to âdearly departed US Postal worker Paddy Finnegan.â The good-natured lad took a trip to an Atlantic City casino where he won $10 million at the slots â and then promptly dropped dead. With Father Seamus presiding, youâll be treated to eulogies, sing-alongs and the search for a missing corpse.
Meanwhile, youâll eat, drink, watch The Riverkids Irish dancing champions â and be invited to dance to the music of The Dublineers.
Donât leave before they read the will!

đ° IN BRIEF
Caroline Street project âhits snagâ
Since weâre headquartered right on Caroline Street, this headline caught our eye. It was huge news when DâAndreaâs Pizza came down to make room for new apartments - and now the projectâs developers have hit a âsnag,â reports the Albany Business Review. Construction of the six-story, mixed-use building was set to begin this year, and the delay could take months to resolve. (Yes, itâs a code issue.) The project, writes the outlet, is a âkey piece in the revitalization of Caroline Street.â

NYRAâs agonizing ticket roll-out continues. Tomorrow begins the sale of season tickets for reserved seats in the Grandstand, Clubhouse and Michelob Ultra Stretch. (Single-day passes begin April 9.)
In Saratoga, âhousingâ is more than a headline
Why Iâm joining the Dispatch: real estate expert Allison Bradley
Housing isnât just a headline in Saratoga County.
Itâs the house you grew up in, the apartment someone is trying to afford. Itâs the neighborhood you hope your kids will come back to someday.
But if youâve tried to follow housing news lately, youâve probably noticed something frustrating: Most of the information hitting your screen isnât actually designed to help you understand whatâs happening here.
National outlets run on traffic. In that world, âSaratoga County is steadyâ isnât a story â but âThe Housing Bubble Is Burstingâ is. And those headlines are usually built on national averages.
But you donât live in a national average.
You live in Upstate New York.
And while social media can be a great place for conversation, itâs also where rumors and half-truths travel faster than facts.
Iâve spent nearly 20 years working in and around housing, watching people try to make sense of a market that directly affects their lives. What Iâve learned is that the most important real estate stories are almost always local.
Thatâs why Iâm joining the Dispatch.
The Dispatch isnât built on clicks. Itâs built on subscribers â people who care about whatâs actually happening in their community. That means our incentives are different. We donât need to chase the loudest headline. We can focus on whatâs real

Hereâs what you can expect from me:
⢠If something is my opinion, Iâll say so.
⢠If it comes from data, Iâll show you the source.
⢠If the takeaway is reassuring, Iâll tell you that. If it isnât, Iâll tell you that too.
⢠Above all, it will always be honest.
Iâm grateful to be doing that work with the Dispatch, and for you.
And if you find it valuable, I hope youâll share it with a neighbor or a friend. Because the stronger our local conversations are, the stronger our community will be.

Commitment is hard
Your Dispatch is independently owned and locally operated, from right here on Caroline Street.
A paid subscription requires commitment (extra shout-out to my 300 or so paid subscribers!!). Sometimes thatâs hard (for me too). So I made a one-time contribution an easy lift.
Please contribute what you can so we can keep this movement going! Any and all help is SO appreciated.

Yay, Allison! Looking forward to your input.
