Hot Lake George activity gets top marks for accessibility
SPAC also made the list of top stops for guests with limited mobility, amid ILoveNY push for inclusive tourism.
ILoveNY has named the Empire State’s top 28 places to go in NY for people with limited mobility — and a quintessential summer Lake George activity made the top of the list.

“New York State is home to all kinds of amazing adventures and incredible attractions, many of which offer accessibility features for travelers who have limited mobility or difficulty walking,” reports the July 29 article.
No. 1 on the list? Lake George Steamboat Company, which runs the Mohican, Minne Ha Ha and Lac du Saint Sacrement boats.
With “views of the Adirondack Mountains as your backdrop,” the cruises ride along the Queen of American Lakes, including the famous Millionaire’s row of summer home mansions, all while a stellar (and often very funny) guide points out the top spots.
“Travel back in time aboard a scenic steamboat cruise,” advises the travel and tourism entity, which has made accessibility a key priority — with additional resources geared toward deaf, blind and neurodivergent travelers.
For those with limited ability, the steamboat company scored high marks for its ramps with railings and indoor and outdoor seating. “Lunch and dinner cruises have assigned seating,” says the article, which promoted the full variety of cruises — including sightseeing tours, firework spectaculars, and romantic dinner cruises. “The Minne Ha Ha and the Lac du Saint Sacrement both have lifts to the upper decks. The Mohican is wheelchair only on the first deck with stairs leading to the upper decks.”
SPAC also made the list, thanks to its asphalt sidewalks that wind through the epic 16-acre property. “And for those who may need assistance covering longer distances,” says the article, “courtesy carts are available to transport visitors and one companion to their seats.”
No stairs are required for the famous amphitheater’s lower level, with a wheelchair ramp running behind the Hall of Springs Gate. For balcony seats, book in section 16 or 17, which can be accessed without stairs.
Plus, the second floor of The Pines — used as a VIP club for concerts and as a venue for ticketed events throughout the year — can be accessed via elevator.
