First post-makeover Events Calendar alert

Thursdays have been Events Calendar days for a little while now. And today’s our first one since the whole migration/makeover … incident. (I’m still recovering.)

Did you know: This weekly addition was added in response to YOUR feedback, Dispatchers.

And as someone who loves being out and about in Saratoga (and beyond!), I was thrilled.

LEGGGOOOO.

See you out there,

BALLET WEEK @ SPAC

Tulle-perfect: It’s New York City Ballet week at SPAC. (Photo by Bryan Lasky)

First it was opera, opera, opera. Now it’s ballet time. (Next up: orchestra.) That’s just how the classical seasons work here in Saratoga.

Last night’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream β€” with its 25 local kids, including the tiniest spinner shining in red and a gorgeous set of apprentice-level teenagers β€” was a magical New York City Ballet opening night.

The beloved crowd-pleaser is being done in honor of SPAC’s 60th anniversary. George Balanchine himself chose the dreamy story ballet for his company’s first-ever night in Saratoga, back in 1966. And at the pre-game talk last night, there was someone who danced on stage that very night as a child.

Chills.

Tonight is the actual anniversary date, so don your party hat (they’ll be provided.). The first 400 guests will also receive a complimentary 2005 NYCB A Midsummer Night’s Dream poster from the SPAC archives. Treats will be on-hand from Whitman Brewing Co., Adirondack Winery, Nothing Bundt Cakes and many more.

🍝 DINNER CLUB

Special thanks to Ashley Salvadore for making this chic video about the Dispatch Dinner Club β€” next’s one is Wednesday (July 15). [Click the embed to watch!]

Tables are set up according to age groups, interests and more β€” yup, there’s a very short quiz β€” so come on down.

Just a few more days to sign up (deadline: Monday, 6:30 p.m.) to join the 47 of your neighbors who want to meet you. July’s post-dinner nightcap will be a Whitman Brewing Co. takeover.
