Better late than never

A fan favorite restaurant is launching all-you-can eat brunch with crepes and vanilla custard cinnamon French toast (but maybe not pancakes). (Stock image by ClickerHappy on Pexels)

Happy MondayTuesday, Dispatchers.
Who else remembers Sex and the City-era weekend brunches? 🙋♀️ Heaping plates of eggs, gossip sessions that stretched into late afternoon, and an ice-cold glass (or three) of bubbly.
In other words: breakfast food at lunchtime paired with dinner drinks.
We had it all and we knew it.
Starting this Sunday, you’ll be able to “have it all” on your plate — a new buffet is opening at a restaurant you love.
Let’s dig in,
— Abby

👀 ONE TO WATCH: Jockey Edgard Zayas
Keeping my eye on Edgard Zayas, who rode to victory aboard Let Em Know Sunday in Race 6. The 31-year-old jockey is here all summer for the first time and was looking fantastic. He raced three times; in addition to his win, he came in fourth in Race 8.
📸 HOW THEY SEE US: Josh Groban
After a fierce downpour, Josh Groban performed under surprisingly dry skies Friday night. He later posted a photo showing the entire Philadelphia Orchestra, calling the evening “epic.”
🚗 CAR TALK: If it’s good enough for Tay Tay…
Bellying up to the bar at Panza’s a few nights ago, my sonic-when-it-wants-to-be hearing zeroed in on four words: God of the Woods, the much-anticipated Netflix series currently filming in the Adirondacks. A man was excitedly talking about his appearance in the adaptation of the mega-hit mystery novel — or at least his car’s. “I drove it back and forth a few times,” he laughed.
For context, God of the Woods was one of the most popular books of 2024, author Liz Moore spoke at the Saratoga Book Festival — and it’s even the audio book that none other than Taylor Swift was listening to in her record-busting Disney+ Eras Tour documentary.
“I even made a couple hundred bucks,” the man laughed. “But the car was paid twice as much!”
Grand Opening
After a months-long soft opening, Artisan Cove (516 Broadway, in the Algonquin Building) celebrated its new digs in style on Saturday afternoon with a Grand Opening reception.
“Artisan Cove is such a special place, filled with so many talented local makers, artists and small businesses,” says Linda Taylor, founder of CarBloom (and its spinoff, BoatBloom), which arranges a flower display to brighten up your car console.
The jam-packed collection of handcrafted gifts and unique finds also boasts Saratoga Sundry’s local-themed candles, a mini Frankie Flores gallery, jewelry, upcycled fashion and more.

🦞 LOBSTAH: Eddie F’s debate
I say this with love: You don’t book a table at the track for the food. And if you’re a table of six women in the Turf Terrace, there’s a chance six orders of lobster rolls are in your future. Recently, a debate ensued: These have to be the same as Eddie F’s, whose lobster roll stand is right there, right?
No. The food is a tangled sitch involving Levy Restaurants and Mazzone. Different rolls, different filling. Dig in — and save room for a mini-roll at the Eddie F stand on the way out if you’d like to test-taste. And root for his horses, too, which always have fun names. The one racing this season is 4-year-old Buttah (younger sibling to Chowda and Lobsta).
📌 ICYMI…
🥐 All you can …enjoy
All-you-can-eat buffets in Vegas are slowly disappearing — but here in Saratoga, Franklin Square Market is going all in. Starting August 23, enjoy Sunday breakfast buffet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Think chef-carving stations, made-to-order omelets, cheese and charcuterie, Nutella crepes, vanilla custard cinnamon French toast, and house-baked pastries such as mini chocolate croissants.
There are hearty mains, too, such as eggplant involtini and rigatoni mezzi — pus a NY strip loin.
